The Town of Normal is a city that believes in sustainability. They wanted a brand that reflected this and graphics that educated the community about and encouraged involvement in their Sustainability Initiative. I designed vehicle wraps for their EV fleet and for their garbage/recycling trucks, and a die-cut sustainability information booklet.
I designed the vehicle wraps to play with the flat surface of the vehicle exteriors and create a dimensional illusion: a 'fresh air' car and the recycling logo bursting out of the trash like Superman.
The Redbird Scholar is Illinois State University's print and online magazine focused on the research, scholarship, and creative expression of faculty and students. Since my start at ISU, I have contributed to 4 editions of this magazine including the last 2 cover stories. My covers have focused on the studies of an operatic researcher and performer, and a poet battling dissociative amnesia.
When Bunn released their Phase Brew home brewer they asked us to help get the word out. The major selling point of the Phase Brew was that it used new technology to make a better tasting cup of coffee. For this project I art directed a product photo shoot, created a variety of ads, flyers, a press kit cd mailer and branded segways and materials for a street marketing team to get the word out about Phase Brew just in time for Christmas.
Illinois State is the ISU's alumni magazine. This publication is sent out quarterly to our vast network of alumni to keep them connected and informed of ISU's world impact. I art direct photo shoots and design articles for every issue, including numerous cover stories. My cover stories have ranged in subject from a wildly successful popcorn tin entrepreneur to a documentarian covering the 2016 presidential election for Bloomberg Politics.
The president of Illinois State unveiled his 11 'Metrics of Excellence' at his 2016 State of the University Address. I was given the task of creating a brand campaign for these points of pride and implementing this campaign across campus in the form of posters, flyers, bus stop ads, social media outreach, and presentation graphics.
The goal of 'BN' was to create a brand for Bloomington-Normal that not only advanced the community's visibility but also could become a language all its own. The director of marketing at Illinois State approached me with this concept. Together we designed a logo, a look, and a brand guide to bring the concept to life.
We worked with The Avenue on developing all aspects of their brand, including a company booklet, quarterly newsletter and Arts and Society magazine ads (which I collaborated with my co-designer on). We wanted to position them as the highest quality in kitchen and bath renovation.
ECHI is a coalition for healthcare. They needed a new logo and a trifold brochure to inform prospective clients who they were. I refreshed their logo and designed a trifold using diecuts to break out of the traditional brochure format and create a memorable visual experience.
I created this postcard campaign, campus poster series and website design for Midstate Transmission and Auto Repair. I was responsible for all aspects of this brand including copywriting for the posters and postcards.
Business Builders put on a seminar to educate potential clients on how to effectively use video in today's marketing environment. I was in charge of branding 'The Power of Video Seminar' and creating marketing materials for the event. I employed the familiar icons and look of the Youtube video player to create messages that illustrated the purpose of the seminar. I utilized this brand to create logos, posters, postcards, tickets and a seminar guidebook.
Eli's Coffee Shop is a cool little coffee house in Morton, IL. They were in need of a brand overhaul. I designed a new logo for them with a decorative swirl on top of a coffee mug forming the "e" for Eli's. I also designed some practical logo applications and their new website.
